Meanwhile, Time Flies

This piece is about the spring equinox, I'm fascinated by that time when the day is the same length as the night. The figure wears a crown of fast-growing leaves; she has a balance scale with the sun and moon in one hand and holds a wild rose in the other. On the shelf it reads, 'Sed fugit interea fugit irreparabile tempus', which is a line from Virgil; roughly translated - But meanwhile irreparable time flies. There are Roman numerals around the top showing the sunrise at 6am to the sunset at 5pm There are two drops and a heart with spring leaves hanging from the shelf.

It measures approximately 18cmfrom the top, to the bottomof heart 10.5cm across, the shelf is 3cm deep. This piece is handmade and hand painted, over many hours, from earthenware clay. It is ready to hang on a hook on the wall.

PLEASE NOTE! These item will be on display in The Robin Craft Cafe as part of Sheen Art Trail, it can be bought now but won't be sent out until after 2nd May.
