This piece is based on the folk song Barbara Allen. She wears a wreath of wild roses, a striped bodice and knickerbockers with a pattern of hearts. She has an apron with scissors and rosehips in the pocket. A green heart with briar leaves hangs from her chest on a crocheted blue 'rope'. Her stockings have a diamond pattern. The banner she carries reads: 'tied in a true lovers knot a red, red rose around a green briar'. The red rose was her lover, Barbara the thorny briar.
She measures 22cm from finger tip to toe, 23.5cm including the heart. She is approximately 10.5cm wide. She is made to hang on the wall, she hangs on a secure hanger. She is entirely handmade and hand painted.
